HOW TO RECEIVE MAIL ON YOUR PC USING MICROSOFT OUTLOOK

Do you know you could get E-mail alert pop up on your desktop computer? You have seen this happen on Hollywood and Nollywood where an alert pops-up notifying the computer user of a New Email received, and the email content can be viewed at the touch of a button. You can also get this done easily on your personal computer without much technical skill.

Users who have Microsoft Office installed (Word, excel, Outlook Express etc) on their PC do not have to visit yahoo or Google.com anytime they want to check email messages. Microsoft Outlook email client has made this easier with it  you can automatically get notification of new emails and read them right away. IMAP (Internet message access protocol) is recommended because it lets you download messages so you can access your mail with a program like Outlook Express or Apple Mail. IMAP syncs the actions you take in Outlook Express or Apple Mail whatever action taken in your Microsoft outlook will directly be effected in your mail client. Sadly, POP does not have this function.

How to easily setup Outlook Express 2003 / 2007 Email Account
Gmail would be used as sample though same process is applicable on yahoomail account but with slight changes. Now, you must enable IMAP in your Email account and to do this you need to follow these steps below
  • Sign in to Gmail.
  • Click on settings on the top right corner of your gmail account
  • Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
  • Select Enable IMAP and click Save Changes as seen below
